Trust's GXT 714 Ruya is a gaming chair that tries to get the best of two covers. The seat and back centres are breathable fabric, which stays cooler against the body, while the side bolsters that rub against your legs and arms are PU leather, which copes better with friction. Add 3D armrests, a lockable tilting seat and a class 4 gas lift, and it is a well-equipped choice for gamers on a modest outlay.

In its favour

  • Fabric in the seat and back centre with PU on the sides puts the hard-wearing material where rubbing happens.
  • Adjustable height, backrest, 3D armrests and a tiltable seat with locking mechanism are all listed.
  • A class 4 gas lift is stated as tested up to 150 kg.

Good to know

  • The internal structure is FSC-certified wood rather than steel.
  • The listing gives no recline angle or warranty length.

Our take

A hybrid cover with purpose

Fabric seat panels are kinder in a warm room, but the bolsters on racing chairs see most of the wear when you climb in and out. Putting PU on those edges should keep them looking tidy for longer, while the parts you actually sit against breathe. Care is limited to spot cleaning, so tackle spills on the fabric quickly.

Adjustments and comfort

Height, backrest angle and 3D armrests are all adjustable, and the seat itself can tilt and lock. The 3D arms move up and down, forward and back, and pivot, which is one direction short of the 4D arms on Corsair's T3 Rush. Moulded foam forms the seat and high-density foam the back.

Lumbar and neck cushions are both adjustable and removable, so you can use them, reposition them or leave them off. Amazon lists a seat depth of 42 cm and an overall height of 134 cm.

Frame and capacity

Unusually, the structure is made from FSC-certified wood rather than steel. Trust presents that as a sustainability choice, but steel frames tend to be stiffer over many years of rocking and reclining. The class 4 gas lift is tested up to 150 kg. The chair weighs about 19 kg, and installation tools and a user guide come in the box.

The listing gives no recline angle in degrees and no warranty length.

Where it fits among fabric chairs

The Corsair T3 Rush matches the 150 kg figure and adds 4D arms and a steel frame. The Genesis Trit 660 RGB goes for a full fabric cover with lighting, but with only 2D arms and no stated load. The Ruya is a middle option: better arms than the Genesis, a more practical cover than all-fabric rivals.

Verdict

Choose the Trust GXT 714 Ruya if you want breathable fabric where you sit, tougher material where you rub, and good adjustment for the outlay. For a steel frame and 4D arms, the Corsair T3 Rush is the upgrade, while the Genesis Trit 660 RGB appeals if lighting matters more than adjustability.
