Branch built the Multitask chair for people who want to sit down and work without studying a manual. It has a weight-activated tilt that sets itself, 3D armrests, seat height adjustment and a breathable mesh back over a wide foam seat. At 12.7 kg it is one of the lightest chairs in this group, which suits small home offices, rented rooms and anyone who moves the chair between spaces.

In its favour
- The tilt adjusts itself to your weight and movement, so there is no tension knob to set.
- The 3D armrests adjust in height, depth and pivot to meet different desks.
- Branch states it meets BIFMA X5.1 durability standards for commercial use, at a light 12.7 kg.
Good to know
- There is no adjustable lumbar and no seat depth adjustment mentioned in the listing.
- The 275 lb (125 kg) load rating is modest for a chair of this size.
Our take
Simple, self-adjusting tilt
Rather than a tension knob, the tilt responds to your body weight and movement automatically. That makes it easy to share between household members of different sizes, since nobody needs to reset anything. Seat height is the other main adjustment, and Branch describes the controls as intuitive with no learning curve.
Arms, seat and back
The 3D armrests adjust in height, depth and pivot, enough to bring them under a desk edge or angle them for typing. The back is mesh for airflow, while the seat is a wide foam cushion, a helpful combination if you find all-mesh seats too firm. Amazon lists a seat depth of about 49 cm and an overall height range of roughly 117 to 126 cm.
This version is listed in a Quarry and white colourway, a light, neutral look that sits well in a living room or bedroom corner where a black task chair might feel too officey.
What it leaves out
There is no adjustable lumbar support and no seat depth adjustment listed. People with a pronounced lower-back curve, or with particularly long or short thighs, may want those controls. The maximum load is 275 lb, about 125 kg, which is moderate. Branch states the chair meets BIFMA X5.1 durability standards for commercial use and sits on a five-star base with smooth casters.
If you have had back trouble before, a separate lumbar cushion is an easy addition, though it will not be as neat as a built-in adjustable pad.
Against other mesh options
The Steelcase Series 1 shares the weight-activated tilt idea and adds seat depth, lumbar and fully adjustable arms, along with a long warranty. The ProtoArc EC200 Pro has an all-mesh seat, two-way lumbar and 4D arms but a lower load rating. The Branch keeps things simple and light, which is its appeal.
Verdict
The Branch Multitask suits people who want a light, uncomplicated chair with self-adjusting tilt and decent arms. If you need lumbar and seat depth control, the Steelcase Series 1 is the better fit, and if you want a cooler all-mesh seat with more adjustment, the ProtoArc EC200 Pro is worth a look.
