The Steelcase Think is for people who want a proper contract-grade task chair with all the core adjustments, without the bulk of a high-back gaming or executive design. Its distinguishing feature is the LiveBack backrest, which flexes with your spine rather than staying rigid. The chair is made in France, rated for users up to 150 kg and, according to the item highlight, up to 190 cm tall.

In its favour
- Covers the main checklist points: seat depth, fully adjustable arms, movable lumbar, tilt tension and a synchronised seat and back mechanism.
- The LiveBack backrest uses a flexing frame and polypropylene membrane, so the back moves with you rather than staying rigid.
- The seat fabric is 95% wool with a stated 120,000 Martindale abrasion rating, a useful sign of how well the cover will wear.
Good to know
- The bullets mention a 12-year warranty but the spec table says 5 years, so confirm the terms with the seller before buying.
- There is no headrest, which matters if you like to lean right back during calls or breaks.
Our take
The LiveBack system explained
Steelcase builds the back from three parts: a flexible frame, a polypropylene membrane that bends under load, and a height-adjustable dynamic lumbar pad. The idea is that the back changes shape as you twist, reach or lean, so support follows you through the day instead of only working in one upright posture. The back is covered in mesh, while the seat is upholstered.
Adjustments on offer
Seat depth, lumbar height, tilt tension and fully adjustable armrests are all listed, alongside a synchronised mechanism that moves seat and back together as you recline. That combination covers the checklist an occupational health assessor would usually run through. There is no headrest.
Amazon gives a seat height of 41.5 cm as a single figure and a seat depth of 46 cm, with an overall height of 98 cm. The chair weighs 16 kg, which is light for a chair of this class.
Materials and durability
The seat fabric is 95 percent wool and 5 percent polyamide, carrying OEKO-TEX and EU Flower labels. A Martindale rating of 120,000 cycles is quoted, well above what domestic upholstery usually needs, so the cover should resist wear for years. Castors are described as suitable for both hard floors and carpet.
Warranty is a point to check. The bullets mention 12 years from the manufacturer, while the specification table states 5 years. Confirm which applies before you order.
Compared with mesh-seat rivals
The Hinomi H2 Pro adds a headrest, a 143 degree recline and 19 settings, suiting people who like to lean right back. The ProtoArc EC300 moves its whole backrest 6 cm and quotes a fit range up to 195 cm. The Think trades those extras for a compact, flexible back and a hard-wearing wool seat.
Verdict
Choose the Steelcase Think if you want an upright task chair with a responsive back, durable upholstery and all the main adjustments. If you need a headrest or a deep recline, the Hinomi H2 Pro covers that, and very tall users may get a better fit from the ProtoArc EC300.
