ProtoArc's EC200 is the entry model of its ergonomic range and is defined by how clearly it documents fit. The listing gives a seat depth range of 33 to 43 cm in five steps and names a suggested user height of 163 to 185 cm, which makes it easy to check against your own body before you buy. A 5-year warranty with free replacement parts adds reassurance for a first proper office chair.

In its favour
- The listing gives the seat depth range in centimetres (33 to 43 cm), which makes fit easy to check against your thighs.
- Two-way lumbar moves 6 cm vertically and 2 cm in depth, and the recline tension has its own knob.
- ProtoArc quotes a 5-year warranty with free replacement parts and a class 4 gas lift tested to EN 16955.
Good to know
- The armrests only adjust in height (7 cm), so they cannot slide or pivot to meet the desk edge.
- A 220 lb (100 kg) load rating limits it for heavier users.
Our take
Seat and cushion
The seat slides across five levels to bring the front edge closer to or further from the back of the knee. ProtoArc builds the cushion in three layers: a breathable mesh top, a 55D high-resilience foam core and a reinforced base. The brand says it keeps its shape after more than three years of eight-hour days. Amazon gives a nominal seat depth of 45 cm.
Lumbar, headrest and arms
Lumbar support moves 6 cm vertically and 2 cm in depth, so you can set both its position and its firmness, a rare feature at this level. The large mesh headrest moves up and down, in and out, and rotates on two axes.
The armrests are widened but adjust only in height, by up to 7 cm. They cannot slide back or swing inwards, so if your desk has a deep apron or you like to sit tight to the edge, they may get in the way.
Recline, safety and setup
Four positions lock the back at 90, 105, 120 or 130 degrees, with a knob for recline tension. ProtoArc states BS EN 1335 compliance, SGS testing to ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 and a TUV Rheinland certified class 4 gas lift tested to EN 16955. An Allen key, screws and manual are included, with installation videos and roughly 20 minutes for assembly. The maximum load is 220 lb, about 100 kg.
Step up or sideways?
The EC200 Pro keeps the same lumbar but switches to an all-mesh seat and 4D arms, with no stated warranty. The COLAMY mesh chair has 4D arms and a sliding seat, rated to 137 kg, with only a 1-year warranty. If arm adjustment matters, either is an upgrade; if documented fit and long cover matter more, the EC200 holds its own.
Verdict
The EC200 suits users of average height and weight who want a well-documented chair with long warranty cover. Choose the ProtoArc EC200 Pro if you want 4D arms and a cooler seat, or the COLAMY mesh chair if you are heavier and need a higher load rating.
