The POKAR frame is for people who already have a desktop in mind, or who have a corner that is not a neat right angle. It is a bare electric base on three feet, and its defining feature is that the angle between the two sides can be set anywhere from 0 to 90 degrees. That makes it one of the few corner bases that can follow a bay, an angled wall or a straight run if you later move house.

Our take

How the angle and width adjustment works

According to the listing, each side of the frame extends from roughly 100 to 170 cm, and the overall width can be set between about 120 and 175 cm. Combined with the variable angle, that gives you a lot of freedom in how the two wings sit. You can run it as a true L, open it out to suit an awkward corner, or bring it close to straight.

Because no top is supplied, you either buy a one-piece L-shaped board or join two rectangular boards. POKAR states the frame suits both approaches.

Height, controls and ports

The frame lifts steplessly from 70 to 118 cm. The 70 cm low end is a touch lower than most complete corner desks, which helps shorter users get their forearms level with the keyboard. The touch panel shows the height, saves three favourite positions, and carries a USB-C and a USB-A port for charging a phone or headphones at the desk.

POKAR quotes a maximum of 45 dB while moving and an anti-collision system that halts travel when it meets an obstacle. The alloy steel frame is rated for 100 kg. The listing does not say whether one or several motors drive the legs.

Planning your build

The frame alone weighs 28 kg, so assembly is a two-person job in practice, and the top adds more on top of that. Measure the corner before ordering a board, and choose a top deep enough to cover the feet. A heavy solid wood L-shape will eat into the 100 kg allowance quickly once monitors are added, so lighter laminate or engineered wood tops make more sense here.

Compared with complete corner desks

The HSSTYLE L-shaped desk comes ready with a top and is rated for double the load, but its shape is fixed at a right angle. The 180 cm L-shaped desk with I-beam legs offers more surface out of the box yet gives no height range at all. In the frames guide, the Maidesite T2 Pro Plus reaches 125 cm and states dual motors, though it is a straight frame only.

Verdict

Choose the POKAR if you have an odd-shaped corner, want to reuse your own top, or like having USB-C at the desk. If you would rather unbox a finished desk with heavier load capacity, the HSSTYLE L-shaped desk is the simpler route, and very tall users may prefer the reach of the Maidesite T2 Pro Plus on a straight run.
