In a box room, bedroom corner or alcove, the desktop size decides everything. A standard 140 cm standing desk can swallow a small room, but go too small and a monitor, keyboard and notebook will not fit side by side. Most people working on a laptop or single monitor manage with a top from about 100 cm wide and 60 cm deep, while tighter spaces can go smaller with some compromise. This guide compares five compact options: complete small desks, a frame that accepts tops from 100 cm long, and a folding pneumatic desk you can put away. Each is compared on desktop size in centimetres, height range, how it lifts, load rating and useful extras such as drawers or USB ports. All facts come from the listings. Measure your space, including the swing of a door, before you choose.

The products in detail

No. 1 · MAIDeSITe

Maidesite T2 frame: tops from 100 x 50 cm, dual motor

A dual-motor frame whose legs span 100 to 160 cm and take tops from 100 x 50 cm, with a 72 to 120 cm range and 125 kg load. It suits small spaces where you want to choose the exact top size.

In its favour

  • It accepts tops as small as 100 cm long and 50 cm deep, so you can cut a top to fit an alcove.
  • Dual motors and a 125 kg load rating are stronger than any complete small desk here.
  • The controller has 4 presets, a sit-stand reminder, child lock and anti-collision.

Good to know

  • No top is included, which adds cost and a trip to a timber merchant or flat-pack store.
  • A 50 cm deep top leaves little room between you and a monitor.

  • Pneumatic lift needs no power socket, and the top can tilt with a laptop stopper.
  • Leitz cites IGR ergonomics recommendation and German TUV GS safety certification.

Good to know

  • The 109 cm maximum height will be too low for many people to stand at comfortably.
  • A 20 kg load and 65 cm top suit a laptop, not a monitor setup.
